Is Your Heart in Balance?

Heart Chakra

We all want to return to wholeness.

We all want to feel peaceful.

We all want to give and receive love easily.

Healing is a voyage of self-discovery and we need to be as aware of our energetic body as we are of our physical, mental and spiritual bodies.

The seven main chakras play a major part in the distribution of energy for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.

Energy is the connection between the mind and the body, so balancing and opening our chakras is an important process of our healing in returning to wholeness.

The sites of the seven main chakras correspond to the sites of the main glands forming the endocrine system, which produces the hormones in the body.

We have an abundance of energy channels or what are also known as “nadis” in our bodies. The nadis form an intricate web of subtle energy streams. Certain texts speak of 350,000 nadis and 88,000 chakras through which the life force (Reiki, Ki, prana) flows.

However, we tend to focus on the main seven chakras as well as the higher heart chakra or Thymus, which is just above the heart chakra and the chakras in the hands and feet when working on helping ourselves and others heal and release.

These swirling wheels of energy align along the spine, with three lower body chakras and three in the upper body.

Connecting them all is the heart chakra, or “Anahata” in Sanskrit which means “unhurt”.

It is the 4th chakra, located in the center of the chest, where the physical and spiritual come together.

This chakra is the balancing point of the chakra system and is also called the 'Living Love center'.

It is often the focus in bringing about healing, thus, the words 'Love Heals All' have great truth.

I wanted to write more about the heart chakra as when this is in balance we bring about healing to all we do as the heart unifies us with the universe!

We are mainly taught to use our heads when we are growing up when really we should be listening to our hearts! As we heal, the focus needs to be on the heart space rather than in the mind.

February’s theme is all about the heart and the light code events I am running this month will both focus on this to help us re-balance, open, and heal our heart chakras.

This post gives you more information about why this is so important and hopefully helps you to understand if your heart is balanced! Plus, includes 8 easy things you can do to help keep your heart chakra open and clear.

The Heart Chakra

On a physical level, the heart chakra responds to the heart, lungs, immune system, and muscles of the upper body.

On a spiritual level, opening the heart chakra fills you with love, forgiveness, and compassion.

The heart chakra is associated with the color green, which represents transformation, balance, and peace.

It represents the element, air, which knows no boundaries. Air is invisible and we are all surrounded by air just like love! Air permeates breath, which increases vitality and enthusiasm for life.

The sound or “mantra” for the heart chakra is “Yam”, which represents the air or wind element. Chanting this sound can help to re-balance the heart.

The sacred truth of the heart chakra is, “Love is Divine Power.”

This applies to your emotional energy, which is the true motivator of the human body and spirit.

Love in its purest form is unconditional love.

When the heart chakra is balanced, we are self-loving, kind, compassionate, patient, and peaceful.

When the heart chakra is deficient in energy, we can feel unworthy, withdrawn from life, selfish, and lonely.

When the heart chakra has an excess of energy, we may find we are clingy, co-dependant, can’t say no, too trusting, and even possessive.

Please be aware that we can be in all groups! Some parts can be deficient and others can be in balance or have an excess. So, don’t worry if you resonate with a couple from each area, it is completely normal. It just shows your heart chakra needs some healing.

Opening and healing the heart is the start of the true healing process.

There are countless things that can cause blocks in our hearts, such as illness, stress, trauma, and emotional conflict.

When our hearts are blocked, it can have a negative effect on our physical, spiritual, and emotional health.

Physically, this can cause problems such as poor circulation, high blood pressure, breathing difficulties, heart and lung issues.

Emotions may arise such as anger, grief, hatred, and jealousy when the heart chakra is not balanced.

Spiritually, we may feel disconnected from others or even from life.

We may have a lack of empathy, and an inability to trust ourselves and others. Deep insecurity and fears are also common.

The heart chakra is a key energy center that helps us accept, forgive and have empathy and compassion. It helps us navigate change so we can transform into who we truly are, which are beings of love!

This chakra also enables us to grieve and find our inner peace in the midst of conflict.

The heart chakra unifies and brings healing to all the paths of life.

8 Easy Things You Can Do to Keep Your Heart Chakra in Balance

  • Spend time with animals, they are the biggest heart openers I know!

  • List all the things you are grateful for, small and large!

  • Call a loved one and tell them how much you love them.

  • The heart chakra element is air, so breathwork is a wonderful gateway to opening the heart. Specific breathwork, such as Nadhi Sodhana is a great way to calm the nervous system and get ready for meditation. But if you want something a bit easier, just take some nice long deep breaths in through the nose and let it out slowly through the mouth. In 3-5 breaths, you will notice a difference!

  • Incorporate the colour green into your daily life, such as clothing or a scarf or decorate your home with green walls or accent pieces. Plants are a wonderful way to add green to your life and they help open your heart at the same time too!

  • Listen to specific frequencies to bring healing and restoration as per below:

    • Light Codes ~ The light codes I channel can help heal and open the heart.

    • 341.3 Hz ~ the heart chakra frequency is 341.3 Hz, which is associated with the element of air. Listening to the music attuned to this particular frequency brings balance to the heart chakra.

    • 528 Hz ~ this frequency is the most significant of the ancient Solfeggio frequencies. It is known as the “love” frequency, it has a deep-rooted relationship with nature and is present in everything from Chlorophyll to human DNA.

    • Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries for healing and meditation purposes. Each chakra resonates with a specific key. The heart chakra key is K.

  • Yoga can really help to open the heart and also release old emotions. Here is a lovely easy practice for the heart chakra from Yoga with Adrienne. It is completely free, only 23 minutes, and perfect for beginners as well as the more competent!

  • Have a healing session to help you re-balance.
